1st task-Zac Zurnamer-My First Two Weeks Of School

It was a hot summers day when my mum walked into my room, “Zacy wake up darling its time for school.” I almost went into shock, yep, it was my first day of high school! I was excited but nervous. From what I had heard in Year 6 high school was scary, more work, more demerits more EXAMS!!! No, I couldn’t do a cycle test EVERY Friday! But when I got there I was greeted with the usual ‘sup bro…’ from my friends and a smile from every teacher! We were then sent to the hall, as we entered the Year 8s and 9s clapped and cheered. I sort of felt like a rock star! Mr Pitcairn then greeted us and we met all the new teachers, and the old ones. We then went to the gym to meet out tutor teachers and our year coordinators, we then explored the new building, and it looks fantastic! I can’t wait until its finished, that rooftop canteen is going to be great. We then went off to out venues for our streaming tests, but that’s just how school is. After that we got an opportunity to catch up with our friends and meet and get to know the new kids. The week ahead was looking great!
The second day back was the swimming carnival, what a fantastic day! The sun was out, and finally, after years in primary school, the carnival day wasn’t a day where you tried your best to get out of school! Everyone was happy and loud. After a bus ride from Woollahra all the way to Drummoyne Pool we all went to our house areas, the day was full of chanting, cheering and swimming of course. The overall winners were my house, Bennelong! Bennelong had never won a swimming carnival, until now, so look out Macquarie, Darling and Piper because we’re coming for you at the Cross Country! Then much earlier that usual, mum comes into my room “Wake up honey, it’s time for camp!” Yes, it was Wednesday, the first day of a camp for the rest of the week at Cataract Scout Park! After arriving at school I realised that I forgot my phone charger, this was a very big deal! Luckily for me, super-mum was able to get it to school for me and I was saved. After an hour of my ipod and a nice and cold air-conditioned bus, we got off words can’t describe the horrible feeling that suddenly hit me as my feet touched the ground, I couldn’t get my jacket off fast enough! We then went and had some morning tea. After that we went to sort out our rooms, I was in a room with Bryson, Jono, Mason, Jordy and Blair. After deciding who was sleeping where, we got our plates, cutlery and cups and sent to the kitchen for lunch. Wow, the food was well, average to be very nice, but to be honest, the only reason I ate the entire camp was to at least a small amount of energy for the activities we were doing. We did rock-climbing, a giant swing and a huge flying fox, just to name a few. Sleep was hard to come by, but isn’t it like that at all camps? By the last day I’d had enough of the heat and the food, I just wanted to go home, to my cosy apartment, my comfortable bed, my mum and dads delicious cooking and most of all, the city! I can’t stand places that are in the middle of nowhere, I guess that’s why the power outage took so long to fix. But really camp was a great experience and I’m sure as I progress through high school the camps will just get better.
Monday, the first day of lessons and the first week of real school for the year, we met in the gym once again to collect our 10-day timetable we met all our new teachers throughout the day, but of course there’s THOSE subjects, the subjects that you think are the most boring, time wasting and frustrating, one of THOSE subjects is English, but, after meeting my English teacher I was so surprised! Someone that can make English fun! It’s a miracle! I can’t wait for the weeks ahead!
